This weekend on July 5th, the Sun in Cancer and Luna in Capricorn oppose each other for yet another a powerful Full Moon Eclipse Portal. Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde right now. Jupiter and Pluto are in conjunction again, which brings in a lot of transformative fire and the need for letting-go processes. Saturn has entered structure loving Capricorn again and with all the retrogrades right now, this Full Moon feels kinda backwards oriented. Issues we had to deal with during lockdown might reappear - clearly we are NOT DONE YET and this is just the beginning of a long cycle of collective awakening and transformation.
We are now given the chance to go back and collect (insights that are needed to gain clarity) what we might have have missed over the last months. Also a lot of emotions (around our roots, home, family, - duty, responsibility and resistance to change) are being stirred up from the past, that demand our attention and release. I certainly feel it, as I am currently going through a transformative process around what it really means to feel rooted, nurtured, safe and home....basically everything that Cancer brings up. I dive deeper into Cancer-season and the collective call for emotional maturity in my previous article, you can check it out here.
The Capricorn Archetype
Capricorn is the elder, he is all about the laws of the earthly dimension. He is cardinal earth, meaning...he is able to mobilize earthly, worldly sources, forces, objects, into order and structure, to support a sense of security and safety. Therefore the Cancer-Capricorn axis is about emotional (Cancer) and earthly, physical and financial (Capricorn) security.
Capricorn deals with authority, he is all about duty and responsibility. And with that comes judgement and evaluation of priorities. He's like "I'm going to suppress, control, withhold my little emotions, my personal stuff, my feelings, my needs, my tears, my little inner child (all of that being associated with Cancer) in order to be strong and do my duty and responsibility" Does that sound familiar to you? Our system is pretty much build on suppression, the shadow side of Capricorn. However, Saturn and Capricorn can be great teachers, if given the chance. In essence, they are aiming to activate our inner authority, clarity, sense of responsibility and integrity. They teach through obstacles and limitations. Capricorn is being associated with crystalline energy, it needs a lot of pressure for a coal to become a crystal clear diamond. And that is exactly the environment, where Capricorn thrives. When there is not a lot of space and clutter, you need to / can focus on the true essentials in life. This clear focus is what is so often needed when we're more in a watery cancer-like energy, stuck in emotions of the past, afraid to leave the nest and face reality. And here we have the lesson of this full moon portal. We need both qualities and are now, after the last cancer-new moon, given the chance to tune into what a Capricorn-Luna has to offer for us.
The Cancer-Capricorn Polarity
Cancer encourages us to value our home base and our roots, while Capricorn persuades us to consider our sense of duty and responsibility along public or professional lines. It's the child vs. the authority / parent. While Cancer may be content to be dependent, Capricorn urges us to be grown-up and responsible. This energy can be very healthy and grounding, especially if you're challenged with (co-)dependencies. You might find the strength to finally stand up for yourself in integrity. On the other hand, when being very familiar, yet challenged by a lot of earth-element and Capricorn energy, you might need more water and softness in your life, feeling into what truly nurtures you on a deeper, emotional level.
The Full Moon illuminates these inner and outer conflicts. Ideally, a balance should be found between the two energies, and this is what this Full Moon invites us to do. This lunation is about balancing our commitment to our path and responsibilities and families / personal life / home. Something has been building inside of us, and now is the time when the energy of the cosmos fairly demands that we let it out.
A crisis of sorts (which can be a crisis of consciousness) or sudden awareness of a lack in our lives provides us with a golden opportunity to explore our emotional needs within the context of the house polarity where the eclipse occurs in our natal charts (Contact me, if you wanna find out more about your chart). Relationships may be challenged, broken or strengthened dramatically at this time. Our discovery is emotionally charged and dramatic. Epiphanies are likely at this time as we become acutely aware of our lack. This understanding can propel us into affirmative action.
Full Moons are always good for magnifying pre-existing problems so that we can see where to bring back balance. Our larger work should be on reaching a good balance between focus on personal and private lives and our professional or public duties, responsibilities and goals. Enlightenment now provides us with a golden opportunity to explore our emotional needs, which can ultimately lead to positive actions and decisions. There can be a heightened awareness of flaws in our current systems and structures. There can also be an urgent or sudden need/desire to express ourselves, and a strong compulsion to come to a resolution of a problem.
Further Planetary Aspects
This lunation happens very close to the retrograde-retrograde Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, making revelations rather dramatic. Its harmony with Uranus helps us release and let go. Mars in Aries wants to move forward and push through, while his square to the retrograde Mercury in Cancer is still holding him back, as he has to deal with his feelings first. We might ask ourselves: How far do I have to hold myself and my feelings back in order to act responsibly as a partner, parent or individual in society? Mercury's retrograde phase makes it difficult for us to find clear answers right now, as its more about our emotional intelligence than ratio at the moment. The Full Moon in Capricorn is calling in clarity, duty, clear regulations and rules, however...we don't want to be restricted. Many of these topics are reminiscent of March, April and May this year and some things, that we thought we'd have already overcome, can reappear in us, but also in the outside world. So how do we deal with it now? What are our values and standards and how do we behave? An exciting time phase awaits us in the days around the full moon.
So this eclipse can be pretty radical, but we’ll also receive a big power boost, to make this process easier for us. PLUS the eclipses can help you do things you never thought you could do. May this eclipse give you strength, courage and clarity to rise in love and truth 🖤
